So I thought I would quickly write in here while I wait patiently for my articles on Piracy on the high seas off the coast of Somalia print off for my term paper.
Its been an interesting two weeks since the Great Walk. My shins, quads, IT bands and calves all felt fine but beat up. It wasn't until this past I noticed all my muscles starting to tighten up and made every run super sluggish. I got in to see Dr. Grimes at Synergy yesterday morning and he kindly loosened up my quads, IT bands and my shins. It was not pleasant but last nights run with the clinic felt one million times better! Active Release Techniques (or ART) has been a crucial aspect to keeping me injury-free. Dr. Grimes and a few others at Synergy health management have the training and expertise to keep anyone feeling healthy.
I'm racing at the New Balance half iron this weekend (doing the run portion of course) and look forward to doing an approximate half marathon distance. My team of all-stars includes 19 time para-olympic medalist in swimming Stephanie Dixon, and bike guru Chris George.... incredible athletes I must say.
After this race it looks like I'm going to run the Sidney days 5k on July 1st for a change of pace during the summer ultra season. After that, its White River 50 mile on July 25th. The men's and women's field for WR50 are stacked, a top 10 finish would be an incredible accomplishment on my part, along with finishing the brutal course.
Soooo I better get back to my research but good luck to Adam O racing this weekend at the New Balance half iron, Heather Hollman as well, Sarah Riddell at the Rock N Roll half marathon in Seattle (her first 1/2 marathon), Dave Milne, who's on a relay team as well at the half iron this weekend doing the bike, and all those going up to the Kusam climb (have fun with that...)
I need a coffee and a donut...
